Bitling for your desktop

The desktop app keeps a local library of your problems and opens projects in your editor in one click. The browser extension works without it; see Getting started.

No release yet: build from source

There isn't a desktop installer to download yet. When the first release is out, this page lists the macOS disk image, the Windows installer, and the Linux .deb and AppImage, each with its size and SHA-256 checksum. Until then you can build Bitling yourself from the source on GitHub.

What you need

  • Node.js 22 or later, and pnpm 9 (corepack enable sets it up).
  • Rust, installed with rustup. The right toolchain version installs itself on the first build.
  • Tauri's system prerequisites for your OS, linked from the repository's README.

Build the desktop app

>_ git clone https://github.com/patrykpoborca/bitling.git
>_ cd bitling
>_ pnpm install
>_ pnpm --filter @bitling/desktop tauri build

The installers for the OS you built on land in apps/desktop/src-tauri/target/release/bundle/. To try the app without installing it, run pnpm --filter @bitling/desktop tauri dev instead.

When releases arrive they'll be unsigned at first, so this page will also show how to check each file's checksum and open it on macOS and Windows.
